To most who've heard of him, Guy is just another passing thug for hire: A competent sword arm and no stranger to a city's back streets. With worse secrets than unwelcome magic, it's an image he's happy to present. He still likes to think of himself as a "good guy", at least.

So when Guy was approached by a poor girl trying to recover a sentimental chalice, he agreed to help. What he didn't expect was to find himself in the middle of an escalating gang war where even his own motives are unclear. Guy's own secrets hold power, but when the truths that might still matter are elusive all he has left are bluffs, and death. He can only ever be one sword, but with innocent lives at stake, there might not be anyone else he can trust to save them ...

Each day we pass a thousand masks; too many willingly worn, but sadder still are those unknown. In this world who would trust a stranger with a secret, or even realise they had a story worth sharing? Maybe they don't all have a happy ending, but every one is unique and precious. This is a compilation of just a few truths hidden in the eyes of people you might not know, but will smile at through a lighter mask a little bit more compassionately tomorrow.

~ One; Betrayal ~
Read: Pdf, rtf
Proud, peaceful and living a simple life off the land; the Stone Axe clan might have been these things once, but with a worsening shortage of food and threats of war from a rival tribe, their survival must come before others. Faced with dirty tactics desperate measures have become commonplace, and drawing the line long forgotten. As the day of battle draws ever closer all that really matters for two thousand barbarians is not honour, but absolute victory.

And among them all is Garrak, an outcast who owes his life to the clan, with a temper but a peaceful tone, who can not make a difference except, perhaps, in the very worst way.
